How Bernicia performs on repairs, and what to do if yours haven't been fixed.

Updated 13 October 2026

Bernicia is a housing association with about 13,467 homes for social rent, mainly in the North. If you're a Bernicia tenant and problems you've reported haven't been fixed, you may be able to claim compensation and get the repairs done.

Bernicia reported that none of its homes failed the Decent Homes Standard at the end of the year. That's a landlord's own assessment, and it doesn't mean every home is free of problems.

It completed 78% of non-emergency repairs within its own target of 60 days, and 100% of emergency repairs on time.

Tenants made 63 formal complaints for every 1,000 homes, compared with 54 at most landlords, and only 42% of tenants who complained were satisfied with how it was handled.
